WAR?

Wordsmith

I don’t care what your political affiliations are, just about everyone has war on their mind.

My husband is a soldier, and this evening he went to the grocery store in uniform. There, a young girl, possibly a teenager, approached him.

She thanked him for his service, then asked if it’s true we’re preparing for WWIII?

My husband (and I’m so proud of him for this) told her not to worry, those are just dumb memes.

That caused her to smile.

She thanked him, and went her way.

When he shared this exchange with me at our dinner table, I couldn’t help but wonder, how many more are worrying about the same thing?

How many, especially our youth, are being told by family, friends, teachers, the media that WWIII is in the works.

I am in no position to speculate on the big IF here, but I what I’m certain on, there is nothing new under the sun, (Ecclesiastes 1:9) and no matter what happens, God is in control.

I’m not saying the thought doesn’t bother me too, it does.

War, especially WWIII, is not a joking matter. If war does happen, my family will be deeply affected, so I don’t take this lightly.

But…

I am willing to accept God’s will.

I trust that no matter what happens, he will strengthen my husband, and all other service members like him, to protect our homeland.

I trust that God will cover the civilians, especially the little ones, right here at home.

I trust that God is bigger, and better and smarter, and more powerful than our enemies!

I trust that all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one came to be, (Psalm 139:16 NIV) and that includes my last.

Jesus said, “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?” Matthew 6:27 NIV

Worrying does us no good.

In fact, studies have shown that worrying might pre-age you…

No one wants that!

So why not take a deep breath, and read 1st Peter 5:7 with me:

Casting your cares upon him; for he careth for you.

That’s right, the God who made the cosmos, cares for YOU!

So don’t be afraid to cast every worry you have on him, big and small.

He wants to hear them all, whether we go to war, or not.

And while you’re at it, please pray for our troops.

Thanks for reading, I hope these words bring some encouragement.
