My Birthday Plea for Our Divided America

Wordsmith

People will oppress each other—man against man, neighbor against neighbor. Young people will insult their elders, and vulgar people will sneer at the honorable. Isaiah 3:5 NLT

Sound familiar, America?

How many people within your populace desire the ruin of their neighbors? I’m going to guess the answer is most.

Yes, MOST of Americans would enjoy seeing those they disagree with completely and utterly destroyed.

It really doesn’t get more oppressive than that.

Who needs a tyrannical dictator, when the person living next door is just as eager to ruin you?!

From religion to identity, politics rules us all.

Let’s face it; to seek someone’s ruin is to hate them.

How will you survive such hatred, America?

Those who worship differently, those who vote differently, to those who look differently all have to worry about their oppressors taking vengeance on them just for being different.

Is that freedom?

I don’t think it is.

A societal road paved with eggshells can’t last.

So where does this road lead?

Jesus knows the answer:

“Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand. Matthew 12:25 NIV

What will the aftermath be if you fall to ruin, America?

A dictatorship of one political ideal?

If that happens, where does that leave the rest of your citizens, America?

Silenced?

Defeated?

Dead?

America, do you really think the enemies outside your borders wouldn’t take the opportunity to strike you in the heart if such turmoil were to reign within your walls?

Who then, would rule this land?

What language would we all be forced to speak?

Mandarin?

Russian?

Is that what any of your people desire, America?

I certainly don’t.

So what is the solution?

Do we continue on this downward spiral of hating each other and our country?

Is that really going to lead anyone to peace and prosperity?

Perhaps we should ask the Bolsheviks? Where did hatred and violence lead them? Who gained power after their terror?

Do you really think you’re above every nation and society that’s been ruined by divide?

Is America’s population that ignorant?

Sadly, it looks that way.

Again, I ask you, America, what is the solution?

Can we reverse the damage this divide has caused and live with each other within your borders in unity, peace, and good will?

Is it possible to sweep out the eggshells and repave our roads with harmony?

I believe it is, but in order to get there, America, it doesn’t start with a nation, it begins with its population.

That’s you and me, our families, our friends, our neighbors, and our communities.

Whether in person or on social media, Americans have got to stop trying to ruin each other.

Americans have got to stop HATING each other!

If we are to make a true change is this nation, it can’t be done by some politician. No. The solution lies in you. Yes, YOU have the power to make our country fail or succeed.

We all do.

For starters, we need to stop allowing the rich to influence how we see each other. They can’t relate to us. They don’t know what it’s like to barely make by. They’ve never gone hungry. They hardly even drive themselves anywhere, unless it’s for fun. Allowing those who grew up in ivory towers to decide how we vote, who we love/hate, and how we think hasn’t been working for our benefit.

We can start this journey of unison by unplugging the t.v. and replacing screen time with community time.

The more we get to know our neighbors, the more we’ll find that we have in common with them.

Perhaps then we’ll learn that we are not each other’s enemies.

Oh, dividing us has certainly worked well for ratings and votes, though, hasn’t it?

Is it working for We the People?

Look around, the answer is NO!

This Independence Day, it’s time to cut the cord and become the very individuals we were all created to be, while respecting individuality in others.

After all, respecting someone else’s freedom doesn’t mean you have to live like them!

We can all be different and still supportive of our unity as One Nation under God, Indivisible with Liberty and Justice for ALL.

Not justice for some.

Not liberty for one and not the other.

Not indivisible so long as you do what I do.

And not nations within: All of this talk of a national divorce makes me sick!

We are many unique people living within ONE NATION.

We can share it or tear it apart. The choice is ours.

If America should ever fall, I doubt any of us would like what would come afterwards…

So wise up.

Think for yourself.

Get to know your neighbors.

Stop allowing a politician to turn you against your countrymen. More than likely that person would want to lather and rinse after shaking your hand. They don’t really care about YOU! There’s no reason to let them have so much clout in your life.

How about following ‘see something CHANGE something.’

You see a divisive ad or t.v. show, turn the channel.

When shopping in a store and there’s propaganda against America, walk out.

If social media is making you feel like your fellow countrymen hate you, logoff.

There’s no reason why corporations, politicians, the media, and social accounts (bots?) we’ve never seen in real life should control how treat each other and how we live.

I say our country’s birthday is a perfect time to begin the journey of independence from influencers.

Most are just grifters, anyhow.

On this Fourth of July, stop living in a way that benefits the elites and start living in a way that uplifts YOU.

Love yourself.

Love your family.

Love your neighbors.

Love those who are different than you.

Love our country.

Yes, LOVE AMERICA!

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustices but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NLT
